Post by Help_me »

I'm studying Anatomy from a book in Castellano, and I found this words lots of times "haces" and I don´t know what it means, and I cant find it anywhere!

It appears in sentences like this "Los haces carnosos"
"las fibras musculares cruzam los haces curvilineos del orbicular de los párpados y del musculo superciliar"

I'm portuguese so you can reply in spanish that I will understand :)

While I am no expert on anatomical terms either in English or Spanish, my best guess from the context is that it refers to bundles of something (probably muscle or fiber). "Haz" is a bundle or sheaf, as in a bundle of sticks. A phone call to one of my colleagues in the Spanish department confirms that it is some kind of bundle.

My guess is that it is derived from the Latin fascis (plural fasces), a bundle of sticks bound together.
